Here is an updated Road map of StitchSketch, as of August 2012, a list of features I'm working / planning to do (only major ones listed here):

  1. "Knitting Pattern" editor
As of ver 1.04, we support "JIS knitting symbols". My next plan is to extend it to provide more symbols.
Also supporting "knit chart symbols" defined by Craft Yarn Council.
    Reference:
    JIS knitting symbols: http://www.tata-tatao.to/knit/stitches/e-index.html
Craft Yarn Council - Knit Chart Symbols: http://www.craftyarncouncil.com/chart_knit.html

  2. Increasing a maximum chart site / Resizing / Cropping
As of ver 1.04, it was expanded to 250 x 250, along with multiple pages in PDF.
My next step is to implement "resizing" tool. ("Cropping" is available in ver 1.04)

  3. Color palette for DMC, COSMO, Perler beads etc.
As of ver 1.04, following palette are available: DMC, DFT, COSMO, Delica, Toho Best, Perler Beads.
    More palettes in the future...

  4. Converting an image into chart with color palette number
This is currently what I'm working on. Planned to be released as ver 1.08. Coming soon!
It will be an "Assign color code" feature. You choose palette, and it matches colors in a color list with a palette and updates the list with a color code.

  5. Editing ASCII Art mode

  6. Pencil size / Line patterns
Partially supported. (Line pattern in ver 1.06) I'll expand this more in the near future.

  7. Text Tool
As of ver 1.06, this is available.

  8. Scripting (Generating a pattern based on algorithm)
I love programming, as you know, and I think writing code to generate a pattern might be an interesting play.
I'm currently researching this. Right now, my thought is that this will be similar to "processing.js" (http://processingjs.org/)
So, my goal is to make StitchSketch a programmable pattern generator :)

  9. Loading pattern to paste
This is needed to save parts and combine them later to create a new chart.
This is currently what I'm working on. Planned to be released as ver 1.08. Coming soon!

  10. Generating a real view image to export

Another features I really want to try to implement are like these:
(These requires more into Objective-C... I'm learning)
  1. iCloud (and/or Dropbox)
Dropbox is now supported. I'm planning to support other services too. (The next would be SkyDrive)

  2. Gallery improvements
File list sort order (Order by date modified)
This is done as of ver 1.04.

  3. Social API (Facebook / Twitter posting)
Well, at least iOS5 (and iOS6) is provide a framework for these - so I need to learn how to use them...

  4. Conversion to/from KG-Chart file
I'm really sorry I haven't done this yet. KG-Chart file is kind of old designed (originally I did in 2000) and a little complex, it is not that easy to convert. (Also, KG-Chart is on Microsoft world and StitchSketch is on Apple world...which makes things complicated)
Anyway, I'll accomplish this in the near future.

Also, based on StitchSketch on iOS, I'm creating a OS/X version, as both are essentially same platform.

There are so many idea and I have so little time to do this... (remember, I'm working on this in my spare time) hopefully I can find a time and continue working on this project.

I'm having trouble getting the text box to actually show all the text. Also, when I import an image no matter what size I make my image it's always cut off when it comes to adjusting it. So far, so good though! Thanks!

Hello Andrea,
Thank you for using StitchSketch!

I'm having trouble getting the text box to actually show all the text.

Right now, the size of a text box is limited by the size of a chart. So, you need to chunk your text so that it fits with a chart.
(It doesn't automatically line break...)
Is it the issue you are having?

Also, when I import an image no matter what size I make my image it's always cut off when it comes to adjusting it.

Using "edit" mode on, iOS cut off the image and crop it square. It is Apples' way of doing, I guess. I'll think of better UI, but until then, you might want to use just edit mode off and import entire image, then crop in StitchSketch.

Hopefully, these answer your question.
Please let me know if you have more questions.
Thank you!

Are special stitches like quarter and half stitches on the roadmap?

Hello SewPixie,
Yes, those special stitches, including back stitches are on the roadmap, with higher priority. Maybe I should update the roadmap...
